Adult Education

Escondido Adult School/ROP offers a wide variety of classes in its adult education program. These include classes in adult basic education, high school diploma completion or GED preparation, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), parent education, short-term career and technical training, fine and applied arts, consumer awareness and classes for older adults and adults with disabilities. Instructors who teach in these programs are credentialed by the state of California.
Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

The Escondido ROP is one of 22 school districts that comprise the greater San Diego County ROP system. ROP classes offer more in-depth career and technical training. After completing an ROP class, students receive not only a certificate of completion but also a competency list that indicates all of the competencies they have mastered in the ROP course. All courses have an annual advisory where industry representatives update curricula and validate the continued need for the class based on employment opportunities in the area.

The Escondido ROP currently offers classes in auto technology, block masonry, business and office occupations, cabinetmaking, child development, computer-aided drafting, computer applications, medical assisting (administrative and clinical), nurse assistant and home health aide, printing and graphics technologies, veterinary assistant, video production and virtual enterprise. Instructors who teach in these programs are credentialed by the state of California. Check the detailed list of classes for times and dates.
Community Education

Community education classes offer enrichment opportunities for our students. Escondido Adult School has an interesting variety of courses on a wide assortment of topics. These include classes in American Sign Language, blacksmithing, dance, art, health, golf and finance to name just a few. These classes are generally shorter in duration and are not supported by state funding. Therefore, higher fees are charged for these classes. Come join the fun!
